Postgraduate Study in the UK Autumn 2016 - doors wide open

If you are thinking about postgraduate study in the UK, and are unsure of your options following the EU referendum, Think Postgrad are here to tell you that the doors to postgraduate study in the UK this autumn are wide open, whatever your nationality!

Here are some facts you need to know and the things you can be sure of following the vote:

  • UK students and International Students from outside the EU - nothing has changed! When you are applying to postgraduate study or starting postgraduate study, any arrangements you have will be unaffected.

  • EU students - nothing will change immediately: the UK remains part of the EU for at least 2 more years and possibly longer, depending on how the negotiations go. So if you are applying for a one year Masters degree, you will have completed it before the UK can possibly leave the EU.

  • The Postgraduate Loan applications are now open - if you are an English or EU-status student then you could be eligible to apply for the new government funding - see our postgraduate loan Q and A. You can even bookmark the page, giving you regular updates on the loans that will be published here.
You can read the latest statement from the Student Loans Company regarding EU nationals who are currently receiving student loans here
  • UK universities welcome postgraduate students, including EU students - and in that respect too, nothing has changed. Following the referendum results, universities have been quick to reassure EU students that they will still find a warm welcome in the UK. The doors for postgraduate students will remain wide open - to find out more about courses available to start your postgraduate masters courses in autumn 2016, have a look at our list of Masters courses which still have spaces, and read our articles on various aspects of postgraduate study to help you make up your mind.

We will continue to post updates on Brexit on and its impact on postgraduate study as they are confirmed.
